The goal of this month’s release, more than anything, was to address some user experience issues that either 1) our team noticed or 2) our customers brought to our attention. For example, we saw that a lot of our customers were typing @username into their work request responses, so we decided to make users tag-able.
But we have no intention of stopping here. Check out our new Product Roadmap portion in these articles for a sneak peak of what’s coming soon to FMX. And as always, we welcome your feedback - if your user experience with FMX isn’t what you hoped, please let us know by sending us an email to support@gofmx.com.
Work requests (Maintenance Requests, Technology Requests, and Custom Modules)
Mentioning users in responses
Last month, we added the ability for you to mention users in work request responses by using the @ symbol and then selecting their name from the list that pops up. Now, mentioned users will automatically be added as request followers after you save your response. They will also receive a notification stating that you mentioned them in your response.
Streamlining Emailed-in Request Creation
We now allow buildings to be auto populated when creating work requests via email if the requesting user has access to only one building
Custom fields
Allowed the Resources Field to be Used in Visibility and Formula Custom Fields
This feature was a request from a few of our customers. When you’re creating/editing custom fields, you will now see an option to add the resources field to your visibility and formula custom fields. This feature can be highly useful if you want to capture different information for certain resources/locations than others.
Schedule Requests
Subscribe to "Your liability insurance has expired" Notification
Users can now subscribe to a notification that alerts them when their liability insurance has expired.
To enable this, navigate to your Admin settings > User type settings > User notifications. Once enabled, users will be able to subscribe to this notification in their account settings. They may unsubscribe at any time. Our Customer Success team is happy to help you enable this feature.
Equipment and Inventory
Undelete Items
You now have the ability to filter for deleted equipment items and inventory, as well as undelete these items.
API
Added Meter Support to the Equipment API
If you’re using the FMX API, you are now able to GET
information from FMX regarding the meter readings associated equipment items. You are also now able to add meter information when creating equipment (POST
) via the API. Finally, you are now able to update (PUT
) meter information on equipment items via the API.
Supported Meter-based Tasks and Occurrences in the API
You can now GET
information about meter-based tasks and occurrences through the FMX API.
Bulk imports
Allowed Meter-based Tasks to be Bulk Imported
If you are tracking meters, then you might notice that on your Planned Maintenance bulk import template that the "Tasks" sheet is renamed to "Time-based tasks" and there is a new "Meter-based tasks" sheet.
Allowed Meters to be Bulk Imported
When using the Equipment bulk import template, meters can now be entered for equipment items that are being created, or for equipment items that already exist.
FMX’s Product Roadmap
Here are some features to look for in the next few months.
Allow Unregistered Users to Receive Email Notifications
If your organization allows unregistered users (users who do not have an FMX account) to submit work requests via email, you will soon be able to allow them to receive email notifications about the requests that they submit. This permission will be defaulted to off, so you will not have to do anything differently if you want them to continue not to receive notifications.
HTML Email Notifications
Soon, our email notifications will receive a bit of a facelift. If your email client allows for HTML emails, your email notifications will soon include your organization's logo and be presented in a graphical interface.
Allow Inventory to be Requested on Work Requests
Your inventory grid will soon be able to display a new “Requested Qty” column. Users will able be able to request inventory in the details of work requests (assuming they have the correct permissions). The requested quantity column on the inventory grid will be the total amount of items requested in each work request. This feature can be useful for inventory forecasting and warehousing.
Integration with Zonar
Organizations using Zonar for fleet inspections can push those inspection results to an FMX work request module. Talk to our Customer Success team about getting this integration set up for your site: support@gofmx.com
Passwordless Authentication
Organizations will soon have the option to allow different user types to log in via passwordless authentication. To log in, users will enter their email address, and FMX will send a link to their email. Users will then click that link to log in.
