This article uses Project Overviews and Project Management to create project requests.

Create Project Requests

Your project will be created using Primary and Sub requests.

Create a Primary Request

  1. Start by creating your Primary request, as you would create any other work request in FMX.
  2. You will see the following Project Management section below the request details. Fill in the Planned Project Start Date and Planned Project End Date. Planned Project Duration will automatically calculate for you. You do not need to complete the Primary Request, Subrequests, or Sub-dependencies fields at this time.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit.

Create Subrequests

  1. While viewing your primary request, click New and then click Projects subrequest.
While you can also create subrequests from any other new request button, doing so here will automatically create the primary-sub relationship.
  2. Fill in all relevant details. Scroll to the bottom and click Submit.
  3. Repeat these steps until your project is built out, taking care to nest your subrequests in the correct places. You can nest as many subrequests as needed to track your project.

Configure Dependencies

If a subrequest cannot be completed before another subrequest, you will set up dependencies. All subrequests act as a blocker to the primary request.

  1. Navigate to the primary request and click Edit. Note that you cannot create dependencies while editing a subrequest.
  2. Scroll to the Sub-dependencies field in the Project Management section. Only subrequests of this primary request will appear.
  3. Specify which subrequests block each other in the drop-downs provided.
  4. Additional dependencies can be added by clicking the + icon.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.

When your requests are created and dependencies are set up, you have completed your project setup!

Manage Project Requests

  • Click the Project Overview tab from any request within the project.
  • This page includes a Gantt chart and cost breakdown grid. The grid compiles all requests in your project in one view.
