To set up Automated Utility Tracking, we must ensure all your utility meters are added to FMX as equipment items.

After you have connected your utility providers, our team will provide you with a list of your utility meters in a spreadsheet like this one:

Provided Fields (from FMX)

  • Account Number: The account number this utility meter belongs to
  • Meter Number: The actual meter number as listed by your utility provider
  • Service Address: The building address associated with this account number
  • Service Type(s): The utility type(s) this meter is associated with

Required Fields (from You)

After you get this spreadsheet, our team will rely on you to fill in the following fields.

  • Meter Name: What naming convention would they like to use to identify each meter?
  • Building Name: Which building is this meter connected to?
  • Associated Ft²: How many square feet does this meter service?

NOTE: We understand in many cases, meters can service multiple buildings. In that case, we can create a new "building" in FMX with a name to reflect that, such as "West Campus."

Optional Fields (From You)

To improve the value of your Automated Utility Tracking feature, FMX allows for additional fields to be entered for each meter. These are OPTIONAL, however, and can be left blank.

  • Location: Does this meter support a smaller section of the building?
  • Consumption Minimum: What is the MINIMUM consumption you would expect for this meter? Any bills with consumption BELOW this number will be considered an "anomaly."
  • Consumption Maximum: What is the MAXIMUM consumption you would expect for this meter? Any bills with consumption ABOVE this number will be considered an "anomaly."
  • Demand Minimum: What is the MINIMUM demand you would expect for this meter? Any bills with demand BELOW this number will be considered an "anomaly."
  • Demand Maximum: What is the MAXIMUM demand you would expect for this meter? Any bills with demand ABOVE this number will be considered an "anomaly."

Next Steps

Once you have finished the required field plus any optional fields, please let your account manager know so they can add these meters to your FMX site.
